I have been feeling a desire to go on retreat. I'd like to find a retreat center within driving distance of Memphis. I'd like a place where I could join morning and evening prayers in a beautiful setting with enough space for some walking or hiking. A labyrinth would be nice. Good food, also. A spiritual director, perhaps. Yoga and massage would be fantastic. I'd do a structure group retreat if it were the right one. I need not to miss a Sunday at church.

Any ideas?

How far are you from Creighton? From Atlanta?

Oh, hell. Links. Just go to www.jesuit.org and click on retreat centers.

Oh, thanks. Seven hours from Atlanta and probably that far from Creighton. Did you do a retreat in your home town? I saw a retreat house there. I like the idea of an Ignatian retreat. I'm also looking at Benedictine houses. There's one in Alabama. And then there is Merton's monastery in KY.

I have been to the one here on a group retreat with my spiritual direction program. Lovely people there. But on my own, I like to go where I won't be likely to tun into people I know. This summer I am going to Manresa in Blomfield Hills and last year I went to Geulph -- which you can find as one of the topics listed in my sidebar.
